Message received from Amazon today:

We wanted to give you an update on the status of your order [xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx].

We are sorry to report that, despite our best efforts, we have been unable to source the following item: Gustav Temple, Vic Darkwood "The Chap Manifesto: Revolutionary Etiquette for the Modern Gentleman"

We apologise for the length of time it has taken us to reach this conclusion. Until recently, we had still hoped to obtain this item for you.

This item has now been cancelled from your order and we can confirm that you have not been charged for it.

So, any preferences for another wedding present?

It's still being listed on the Harper Collins website, and yes, i know THAt means sweet FA. However.. if you were to write to Michelle Kane, the Fourth Estate publicity liaison, ( Michelle.Kane@harpercollins.co.uk ) and simply ask her if ANY copies are available, specifying that it's for a treasured wedding present, you may get a result. I mean, do you TRUST Amazon that much..?

Anyway, good luck.

Indeed; I've had that mail from Amazon before, and both times managed to buy the book direct from the publisher's website instead, and for less money than Amazon wanted. They don't try very hard with their long-drawn-out "searching"...
