I remember that visit to Stanstead well. I didn't get to go, but the noise of the converted 747 pulling out and coming out in our direction stopped a class dead in its tracks and we got to see it leave. Happy Days :)

The Dynasoar and all similar ideas tend to hit the same problem in the end. Sticking wings on something on the end of a long stick which you're going to ram into the air at high speed is a problem. The wings do generate lift and that, in turn, creates a huge bending moment on the stack. I don't think there's a tidy way around it.
