When I left BAE Warton in 2004, there was still a British-Aerospace era cutaway poster of HOTOL on my office's wall. The "Technical" library had a shelf full of books such as Derek Wood's "Project Cancelled: Disaster of Britain's Abandoned Aircraft Projects" and at least three seperate books mourning TSR-2.
If you take Nick Cook's "The Hunt For Zero Point" seriously. (In which case I hope you can read this with that nice shiny silver hat on.;-) The RB545 "went into the black". I can think of my own fate's for the engine, but here is not the place;-)
