I think somebody said it was from Locus, and the list was specifically of stuff first published by about '91 (?).

I'd figured as much; there's a significant amount of good British SF (Jeff Noon, etc) that doesn't figure in the list.

i did a bit more looking into it and could find a copy of the actual list but i did find the comment saying that all the books had to be published before 90 which would explain why i have read so little i have read relatively little which was published before then i guess the most significant ones are the dune books and all the philip k dick i have read
